Marilyn Virginia (nee McNab) McCarthy Entered into rest on January 16, 2013. Loving wife to the late Thomas P. McCarthy (Inspector, SFFD). Daughter to the late Hugh McNab and Rose McNab Schuhmacher. Preceded in death by her brother H. Donald McNab. "Mugsie" was born in San Francisco on July 30, 1933. She attended St. Cecilia School in SF, St. Anselm School in San Anselmo and graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in 1951. She later attended Holy Names College in Oakland. Marilyn is survived by her four children, Kevin, Colleen (Linda), Eireann (Kelly) McCarthy, and Margaret (James) Cooper. "Nana" to Matthew and Darcy McCarthy, Sean (Ashley), Shayna and Shelby Clementz and Crystal and Gary Cooper. Survived by her siblings Lois Maher, Edward (Joann) McNab, and Janet (Leo) Scopesi, sisters-in-law Jeanie McNab and Ann Marie (Richard) Wolfskill. L oved by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Marilyn's open heart is reflected in her co-founding of Helping Hands (1975), her passion for cooking has nourished thousands and her love of genealogy has connected many. As an active member of Our Lady of Loretto Church since 1964, she served as a religious education teacher, president of the Parent Teacher Guild, and parish secretary. She is a longtime member of the Marin Cursillo Community and a Chieftain of the Irish Clan Cian. In the early 1970s, Marilyn and Tom were instrumental in the passing of Proposition K which provided the first ambulances for the Novato Fire Protection District. The family wishes to thank the staff at Novato Community Hospital, her "boys" and "girls" of the Novato Fire Protection District and Hospice by the Bay. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 1806 Novato Blvd., Novato on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Private Inurn ment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.
